Background.

Now.

I lead the Data Insights team in the artificial intelligence and data innovation department (KID) at Fraunhofer IRB in Stuttgart. We use computational social science to study how technological change and human change shape each other. Since joining Fraunhofer in 2017, I have led international, interdisciplinary projects in technology assessment, data science, open science, open source, and frugal innovation.

My experience spans more than twenty years across Linux, open source systems, and artificial intelligence. I have worked with Linux since kernel 2.4.21.

Before.

I began studying mathematics and computer science in Heidelberg in 2008. I left without a degree and turned to philosophy at the University of Stuttgart in 2010. I specialised in formal and analytic philosophy of technology, proof theory, logic, theoretical foundations of artificial consciousness, and information ethics, completing my Master of Arts in 2019 with a thesis on artificial consciousness.

I spent seven years there as a researcher and tutor, writing and teaching on subjects ranging from artificial intelligence to Robert Musil.

My path runs through Heidelberg, Stuttgart, Freiburg, and Berlin. The full record is on LinkedIn.

Ascent.

I grew up in a loving working-class family in a difficult neighbourhood. I worked my way into academia and research, learning their languages and unwritten rules. That path taught me how status, authority, capital, and belonging shape what becomes possible.

I am on the autism spectrum. Deep focus and an intuitive grasp of patterns are part of how I work. I bring these strengths to the questions we explore together, while making room for different ways of thinking, perceiving, and communicating.

I want to use that understanding to help others see what they can work with, question, or change.

I build tools for living and working together, including things like boilerplates that turn Markdown into academic books and articles. The code is free to use on GitHub.
